ABOUT APPLE RABBIT

We believe “trash” is what you make it, and we know that what most throw away is actually a resource waiting to be recovered.

Since 2016, we’ve worked with residents, businesses, and organizations, to divert usable materials from the landfill. We’re on the streets of Jacksonville collecting food scraps to create compost, a miracle soil amendment fondly dubbed ‘black gold’ by farmers. With this compost we can supply community gardens, residents, restaurants, and farms with the soil needed to sustain life.

Want to do the “Rot Thing” without doing the hard work? Sign up for our Residential Composting Service. We are more than just haulers, we also process the material we collect ourselves, and without heavy machinery. After 6 months you are allowed to request your share of the compost that your moldy bread banana peels, and apple cores helped create! No need for compost? We donate whatever is leftover to local non-profits, organizations, and other folks in our community. Win-Win for everyone!

To help make composting accessible to all, we operate with a tiered pricing system. Although the pricing varies, each tier has the same service. If you still cannot afford our service, please reach out.

Tier 1 – For those who have their needs met and expendable income
Tier 2 – For those who have their needs met and some expendable income
Tier 3 – For those who do not have their needs met and/or expendable income

Residential Monthly Subscription / Weekly Pick-up

With your subscription, you get a starter kit consisting of a 5 gal bucket with tight sealing lid and a compostable liner.

We come out to your house every week, pick up your food scraps, leave you with a clean bucket, then work hard to turn your trash into ‘black gold’ You’ll be proud of your contribution to creating a more logical, sustainable world.

Residential Drop-off Monthly subscription/Weekly Drop-off

Subscribers get a starter kit consisting of a 5 gal bucket with tight sealing lid and a compostable liner.
You have the option to drop off the food scraps you’ve collected in your Apple Rabbit bucket once a week to one of our drop off sites.
